It looks like hangovers are about to get a whole lot tastier because fast food saviour McDonald’s have announced that they will be launching a plant-based burger menu in 2021. Hurrah!
In an online statement, McDonald’s revealed that they had been trialing a ‘McPlant’ range in Canada and that they planned to extend it to more markets next year.
They said: ‘There are other plant-based burgers out there, but the McPlant delivers our iconic taste in a sink-your-teeth-in (and wipe-your-mouth) kind of sandwich. It’s made with a juicy, plant-based patty and served on a warm, sesame seed bun with all the classic toppings.’
There are also plans to offer more meat-free menu additions such as chicken substitutes and breakfast sandwiches, which could (fingers firmly crossed) mean that vegan diners will soon finally have more than just French fries and Veggie Dippers to choose from.
That’s if, of course, that the range is in fact suitable for vegans, unlike Burger’s King’s plant-based Rebel Whopper which caused controversy at the start of 2020.
McDonald’s ‘McPlant’ currently has no exact UK launch date. However, we’ll keep you informed as and when we get the juicy burger goss.
Next year is looking up already…
