Marcella Series Three Starts This Week: Here’s The Details

25/01/2021 by Hannah Gale

2 Min Read

It’s been a long ol’ three years since we last had Anna Friel on our screens playing troubled super detective Marcella Backland, but this week she’s finally back as the latest series of the crime drama lands on ITV.

Airing on Tuesday 26th January at 9pm, season three will move from the show’s usual London base over to Belfast where Anna’s character has been working undercover as Keira Devlin. Expect human trafficking, murder and drug-dealing within the plot, making this series as dark as ever.

Anna Friel told The Irish Times: “Anything that could possibly have happened to her happened in series two and the believability factor would be just too much of a stretch of the imagination to have her going undercover in England. I think she enjoys playing Keira a little too much and doesn’t really want to be Marcella again.”

And, if you weren’t just a little bit excited already, ITV will be showing TWO back-to-back episodes for us to devour in one sitting (ideally with a strong cup of tea and a fresh pair of PJs).

We’re unsure yet if there’ll be two episodes every Tuesday night just yet (there’s eight episodes over all, each at 45-minutes long), but we’ll let you know when we do.

Oh and just a heads up, seasons one and two of Marcella are on Netflix – should you want to catch up before diving into the latest season, or need something dark and gritty to get you through the rest of January.

Looks like we’ve found ourselves something juicy to help with the Bridgerton comedown…

New feature today all about our love of Instagram’s favourite interior trend - the half wall. Perfect for kids bedrooms, grown-up bedrooms and living rooms galore. So here, have another photo of the kid’s bedroom (because we’re yet to decorate most rooms in the house 😅 and this one is conveniently a prime example of the infamous half paint job). This is @littlegreenepaintcompany Yellow Pink 🌼🌻✨⭐️ I’ve also included some of our other fave bits of inspo from across Instagram - including dreamy interiors from @charminglifebyjess @renovating_the_broadway @gemellisx and @katespiers 😍😍😍
I may have been a fashion editor for a decade, but I may have been a fashion editor for a decade, but I definitely lost my style mojo after baby no.1 (if I’m honest, two years later I’m still trying to find it)
Lockdown, wearing gym kit for work and not wanting to spend money on maternity clothes I’ll only wear for a few months has meant wardrobe options have been relatively limited this pregnancy, but actually, that’s made life easier. Dungarees are my go-to - these @newlook cord ones have seen me through both pregnancies, my two besties through theirs and even survived an unfortunate ripping incident during the “birthing positions” part of my NCT course 🤣 Adding in a non-maternity top that still fits over bump (I managed to do up about 3 buttons on this @ganni one) is an easy way to make maternity wear feel a bit more “you”. Along with these dungarees and a denim pair I found on @ebay_uk, I’ve lived in @newlook’s leggings - the only ones I could find that didn’t go opaque - @topshop straight maternity jeans (RIP) @hm Mama gym leggings and a couple of dresses from my first pregnancy - mostly @asos maternity or @zara sized up. My maternity wardrobe tips? Look for dresses with easy boob access that you can wear post-pregnancy (I totally failed on this first time round 🤦🏻‍♀️) check out maternity rental sites like @for.the.creators (we have a post on this on site) or shop second hand on @ebay_uk @depop or Facebook marketplace. What are your maternity must-buys?
Just a cheeky bit of midweek nail inspo to either Just a cheeky bit of midweek nail inspo to either copy at home or save for THAT trip to the nail salon in April. You might have noticed in stories that my nails are completely bare at the moment - I had my last set of gels done in October (bright red in case you were wondering). I did a home removal job and tried to wing it through December with a couple of costs of a cheap festive glitter polish but it kept flaking off the same day I painted them 😅 I haven’t bothered using the at-home gel set I have because #twokids but LORD ALMIGHTY will I be glad to look at my hands and see a bright, shiny rainbow mani looking back at me 😭🙌🏼🌈 Hannah x
