If you’re vegan or just trying to eat a more plant-based diet then we have some cracking news for you. Some of our fave confectionery companies have announced that they’re launching new vegan-friendly chocolate bars this spring – hello vegan KitKat! Hello vegan Bounty! Hello vegan Topic!
Nestle announced via their Instagram account last week that their vegan KitKat would be coming soon. They wrote: “It’s almost time for plant-based fans around the world to take a break. Our Vegan @KitKat is coming in 2021…”
Alexander von Maillot, who is Head of Confectionery at Nestlé, said: “One of the most common requests we see on social media is for a vegan KitKat, so we’re delighted to be able to make that wish come true.”
“I can’t wait for people to be able to try this amazingly tasty new KitKat. This is a product for everyone who wants a little more plant-based in their life!”.
And it’s not just Nestlé getting in on the action, as Mars has also announced the release of plant-based versions of their famous (and v delicious) Bounty and Topic bars. They launched earlier this month and retail at £3 each, available at both Asda and Morrsions stores.
They’ll be the second vegan chocolate release from Mars, following the launch of their plant-based Galaxy bars last summer which now include five flavours: Crumbled Cookie, Smooth Mint, Caramelised Hazelnut, Caramel & Sea Salt and Smooth Orange. Which, just FYI, you can find in most supermarkets.
And if that’s not enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, there’s also rumours that Cadbury’s are working on a vegan chocolate recipe, whilst Lindt have launched a plant-based range which, whilst not yet available in supermarkets, can be purchases online at Conscious Candy Co.
Looks like Easter just got a whole lot sexier…
