‘Hague Blue’ Is Officially the Most ‘Grammable Paint Colour

With 1,238,000 hashtags on Instagram, you’re never more than a swipe away from some Farrow & Ball-hued interiors inspo and now, the brand’s Hague Blue shade has been hailed as the most Instagrammable paint colour.

According to research by experts at DIYS.com, who collated data using Instagram hashtags, searching by brand and popular paint colour, deep blues and greys are the most popular paint shades right now, with F&B’s Hague Blue taking the most ‘grammed title with an impressive 46, 589 hashtags. The brand’s Stiffkey Blue, a similarly moody midnight shade, wasn’t far behind with 23, 872 hashtags.

According to credited psychologist Lee Chambers, it may be more than Instagram likes inspiring us to opt for this bold hue; “A deep and rich blue with green undertones, it promotes both calm, confidence and a
feeling of being grounded, which in the middle of a pandemic makes it increasingly popular. It also has a nostalgic feel, providing a certain comfort in these uncertain times,” he told DIYS.com. Hannah, who painted her bedroom Hague Blue last year, couldn’t agree more: “It feels like a cosy den and I love the way it works with bright colours like blush pink and mustard without feeling too overwhelming. It’s my favourite place to retreat to at the end of a long day”.

Do a quick #HagueBlue search and you’ll see that it doesn’t just look amazing in the bedroom either. From living rooms to hallways, kitchens to bathrooms, the inspo is endless. And, because committing to a dark colour can feel slightly terrifying, we’ve rounded up some of our #HagueBlue rooms to show you just how good it can look…

Rattan furniture, a neutral rug and pops of mustard and blush pink lighten up the deep Hague Blue walls in Hannah’s bedroom.

We can’t even imagine living in a house with a hallway this big, but if we did, this is what it would look like @doyouspeakdeco.

We don’t know what we want more – @homebytimchris’s kitchen cabinets, window seat or glass collection. Anyone else really fancy a Margarita now?

Lucy & Dan @victoria_road_restoration are also fans of the Hague Blue/mustard mash-up.

Surely it’s impossible to get stressed out about work in @twentyfourcentral’s chic home office?

If further proof were needed that Hague Blue looks amazing with bright colours, we give you @runcis_at_no9’s beautiful bathroom.

Need some ideas for that lobby/landing/ridiculously roomy reading nook you’ve been meaning to decorate? Look no further @farrowandball.

I may have been a fashion editor for a decade, but I may have been a fashion editor for a decade, but I definitely lost my style mojo after baby no.1 (if I’m honest, two years later I’m still trying to find it)
Lockdown, wearing gym kit for work and not wanting to spend money on maternity clothes I’ll only wear for a few months has meant wardrobe options have been relatively limited this pregnancy, but actually, that’s made life easier. Dungarees are my go-to - these @newlook cord ones have seen me through both pregnancies, my two besties through theirs and even survived an unfortunate ripping incident during the “birthing positions” part of my NCT course 🤣 Adding in a non-maternity top that still fits over bump (I managed to do up about 3 buttons on this @ganni one) is an easy way to make maternity wear feel a bit more “you”. Along with these dungarees and a denim pair I found on @ebay_uk, I’ve lived in @newlook’s leggings - the only ones I could find that didn’t go opaque - @topshop straight maternity jeans (RIP) @hm Mama gym leggings and a couple of dresses from my first pregnancy - mostly @asos maternity or @zara sized up. My maternity wardrobe tips? Look for dresses with easy boob access that you can wear post-pregnancy (I totally failed on this first time round 🤦🏻‍♀️) check out maternity rental sites like @for.the.creators (we have a post on this on site) or shop second hand on @ebay_uk @depop or Facebook marketplace. What are your maternity must-buys?
Just a cheeky bit of midweek nail inspo to either Just a cheeky bit of midweek nail inspo to either copy at home or save for THAT trip to the nail salon in April. You might have noticed in stories that my nails are completely bare at the moment - I had my last set of gels done in October (bright red in case you were wondering). I did a home removal job and tried to wing it through December with a couple of costs of a cheap festive glitter polish but it kept flaking off the same day I painted them 😅 I haven’t bothered using the at-home gel set I have because #twokids but LORD ALMIGHTY will I be glad to look at my hands and see a bright, shiny rainbow mani looking back at me 😭🙌🏼🌈 Hannah x
