The New Line Of Duty Trailer Is Here Ahead Of Season Six

A promised air date for the new season of Line Of Duty has been lingering in the air since the BBC announced last autumn that it would be “in the period up to the end of March 2021”. Well guess what gang, there’s finally a date for you calendar. You ready?

The sixth season will air on Sunday 21st March at 9pm on BBC One. YAS. Somebody start preparing the snacks.

And, in super exciting news – the trailer has just dropped online meaning we can really start to get giddy and excited for what will no doubt be a wild rollercoaster ride of a crime drama.

The one-minute, 11-second clip features the usual show regulars; Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar as the police running anti-corruption unit AC-12. It also includes the latest recruit to the squad – Shalom Brune-Franklin, who plays DC Chloe Bishop.

The BBC also announced last month that this next season of the Brit crime drama will also include an extra episode compared to past seasons (which just FYI, means we will have seven new episodes to devour).

The BBC Press Office tweeted to say: “Listen up, fellas. When the gaffer asks for more, you deliver. #LineOfDuty returns for Series 6 with an extra episode (7 instead of 6). Coming soon to @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer”.

Filming for the latest series resumed back in September after being put on hold thanks to the global pandemic, and the BBC stated at the end of last year that Line of Duty would return to our screens “in the period up to the end of March 2021”. Which basically means any day now, right?

Jed Mercurio, the show’s producer, regularaly shares regular updates on the show’s filming over on Twitter said: “We know Line of Duty fans are desperate for Series 6 and we hope we can get it on air as soon as possible. Thanks so much for your patience in these difficult times.”

With not long to go until it does finally return to the screen (season five aired back in March 2019), we’ve just enough time to re-watch (all old episodes are still on iPlayer) and bring ourselves up to speed.
