It’s one of those brands whose name you hear getting thrown about a lot – both by influencers and in Whatsapp groups – but if you’re not in the Beauty Pie club, it can be hard to work out exactly what it is and, well, which products are worth buying.
If you’re unfamiliar with the subscription service and its signature baby pink boxes, you essentially pay a monthly fee to shop beauty products at a discounted price. Memberships start at £5, which is what Hannah has, while Gemma’s on the £10 option. Each membership has a corresponding monthly spending limit, based on a product’s “typical price” – basically an RRP of what it would be worth if you weren’t buying it the Beauty Pie way. The idea is that everything is made in the same factories as luxury beauty brands, so you’re essentially paying for the same quality but at a fraction of the cost.
Between us, we’ve tried a far handful of the products on offer (everything from make-up and skincare to fragrance and candles), and thought we’d share the bits we regularly use.
Triple Hyaluronic Acid
Hannah: “Admittedly I’m on my third (or maybe fourth?) bottle of this stuff. The perfect hit of hydration for my oily and easily-congested skin. I use it after I’ve swiped my face with salicylic acid, and, depending on where my skin is at, will sometimes layer on a moisturiser too.
Gemma: “A newbie in my BP line-up, I bought into the hype after the last Hyaluronic Acid I was using ran out. So far, so good – I like that the texture is less tacky than other HA’s I’ve tried. Some friends have told me they think it doesn’t absorb so well, but I find it sinks in beautifully. I apply three pumps post-cleanse, pre-moisturise.”
Triple Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Typical Price, £60, Member Price, £16.16
Hannah: “After the wonder that is Facebook, served me an ad for this product at least seven days in a row, I crumbled and added it to order. I’m pleased to say it was love at first application – it’s easy to apply, looks natural, and gives me an instant bit of glow, even on low make-up days. My fave ever highlighter product, maybe?
Beauty Pie Luminizing Wand, Typical Price, £25, Member Price, £6.27
Dr. Glycolic Peel Socks
Hannah: “Because honestly, who can resist the sweet, sweet satisfaction of having the skin on your feet peel off like a snake shedding a layer? You wear these for around about an hour (whilst watching something 10/10 on Netflix) and then a few days later, watch as the miracle happens. These didn’t quite tackle my heels but they made them look a zillion times smoother in time for sandal season.”
Gemma: “Sure, my feet felt slightly softer after an hour in these squelchy socks, but initially I was distinctly underwhelmed. Fast-forward a few days and, as Hannah says, the magic really happens. I know, I know, the clue is in the name, but I’m very much about instant-gratification. Watching your skin shed is both disgusting and supremely satisfying – the likelihood is that anyone you cohabit with will find it the former. You won’t care – you’ll be too busy feeling smug about your new feet.”
Dr. Glycolic Soft Feet 7-Day Peel Socks, Typical Price, £15, Member Price, £3.38
Super Healthy Skin Body Polish
Hannah: “I bloody love having this in the shower and saving it for the days when I can wash without having a screaming baby in his bouncer directly in front of the shower door. It’s basically a spa in a tub and leaves my skin feeling smooth, hydrated and just, well… much more lovely, without actually leaving the house.”
Super Healthy Skin Body Polish, Typical Price, £40, Member’s Price, £14.43
Jeju Daily AM/PM Multi-Phase Purifying Cleansing Milk
Gemma: “BP can barely keep this bad boy in stock – I had to wait for AGES to finally get my hands on a bottle and even the product description suggests you stock up. The gentle and hydrating milky consistency leaves my skin feeling fresh and soft with no tightness and make-up-wise, seems to be able to take on (or should that be off) anything – apart from Benefit’s They’re Real mascara.”
Jeju Daily AM/PM Moisture Superinfusion
Gemma: “It might be the most mind-blowing face cream ever” is a bold claim, but I’m not totally disagreeing. I’m lucky that I don’t really have any big skin concerns, but hydration is always non-negotiable. This divine-smelling delivers on that as well as detoxifying and oil balancing properties. The texture is so luxurious that it almost feels like a treatment or mask, but far from being heavy, it seems to melt into your skin, even when layered with the Triple Hyaluronic by day and the Super Healthy Skin Amazing Sleep Oil at night.”
Jeju Daily AM/PM Moisture Superinfusion, Typical Price, £70, Member Price, £10.62
Longwear Shadow Stick
Hannah: “I’ve long been a fan of the Bobbi Brown Longwear sticks, but at over £20 a pop, they’re not the cheapest item in my make-up bag. I stumbled onto the Beauty Pie £5 version and didn’t hold out too much hope, but HELLO they’re wonderful! There’s a great selection of super wearable shades to choose from, they blend out easily and last ages. Would highly recommend for super speedy make-up application.”
Wondercolour Longwear Shadow Sticks, Typical Price, £22, Member’s Price, From £5.
Super Healthy Skin Amazing Sleep Oil
Gemma: “I was sold on the smell alone. Seriously, can you make this in perfume form please Beauty Pie? I’d previously avoided oils because the ones I had tried felt like they just sat on top of my skin, but this lightweight formula is like silk – it sinks in almost immediately. I didn’t buy it to address any particular concerns, I can definitely say that my skin has felt softer and looked plumper and more rested since I started using it.”
Super Healthy Skin Amazing Sleep Oil, Typical Price, £75, Member Price £19.77
