We wrote last week about how the burst of fake spring weather had reminded us to get better with applying SPF to our faces (and necks and hands and basically wherever bits of skin are on show). And now we truly have no excuses because skincare guru Caroline Hirons has been raving about a £6 product that’s proved so popular it’s already sold out at Boots. Woah.
The facial SPF in question? Garnier’s Ambre Solaire SPF50 Anti-Dryness Face Cream. Caroline shared a review of the budget bottle on her Instagram account where she described it as: “the dog’s bollocks”. And, if there’s one thing we’re sure of, it’s that if Caroline says something is good, it’s going to be bloody brilliant.
She went on to say: “I do one layer all over my face and neck and then I go in again over my areas of hyperpigmintation. Just because. So far I’m loving it. I’ve had no issues wearing make-up over it, but I only really wear concealer day to day and a little foundation if I’m on telly”.
When Caroline posted the review (as part of a week-long SPF testing series on the ‘gram), the SPF was reduced to £3 on the Boots website and sold out within 24 hours.
She updated eager fans (including us) today to say that Ambre Solaire’s SPF50 Anti-Dryness would be back in stock next week but that followers should “buy the others in the range” as they were all good.
Boots still have the Anti-Age version in stock for £10, whilst their face sprays also rate highly across stockist websites.
Garnier describe the sell-out Anti-Dryness SPF as: “Our broad spectrum, photostable products contain UVB and UVA filters to help protect against immediate and long-term sun induced damage and premature skin ageing.”
Looks like we’ll be stalking our local Boots branch when stores re-open next week…
