Another day, another H&M collection for us to swoon over and try and work out if we’ll get enough wear out of it to justify buying. This time around, it’s the brand’s latest drop from their Conscious range, and includes 22-pieces all featuring dreamy wild flower prints that have us dreaming of sunshine, picnics and better days ahead.
Our favourite items from the collection, are, in true Gemma and Hannah style, the whimsical midi dresses, which come in a variety of shapes: the smocked shape which is everywhere for SS21, spaghetti strapped trapeze dresses perfect for hot, hot, hot weather and sleeveless bandeau dresses which again, were made for days on the beach.
There’s also billowing midi skirts, bandeau crop tops, tailored shorts and cropped blouses and everything is either 100% cotton or a linen blend. Prices start from £9.99 and go up to £34.99, and certain items are also available in the H&M+ range which goes from L to 4XL (a UK size 32/24).
H&M’s Conscious range is marked as been the high street brand’s more sustainable collection. They say: “Our Conscious products are created with a little extra consideration for the planet: at least 50% of each piece is made from more sustainable materials, like organic cotton or recycled polyester. The only exception is recycled cotton which, for quality reasons, can only make up 20% of a product.”
It has, however, come under fire in recent years for ‘greenwashing’. Which in simple terms basically means a brand puts more effort into appearing sustainable than actually being sustainable. The jury is still out on that one, but H&M are now giving shoppers Conscious ‘points’ on their account when they shop from the Conscious range, which will be redeemable as vouchers against future purchases.
