There are a handful of TV shows which have held our hand through the past year thanks to their escapism and ability to be binge-watched at ease. And, riding high at the top of that list is yachting reality series Below Deck.
Which is why we were beyond thrilled to find out there will be more seasons of the show landing on Netflix from May 1st 2021 – giving us more opportunity to switch off from real life and succumb to our sofa and snacks.
Currently there are two series of Below Deck available via the streaming service, although you can access later seasons if you pay for a subscription to Hulu through Amazon Prime.
The show first aired back in the U.S. in 2013, but only came to Netflix UK last summer. It follows Captain Lee and his crew members on a super yacht through a charter season around the Caribbean – sounds miss-able, but honestly? Watching a group of hot, young ‘yachties’ cater to millionaires from the turquoise seas of the Caribbean is weirdly addictive.
There’s drama, there’s shouting, there’s sex, and each season has around 8-12 episodes, each at 45 mins long, making it super easy to get through.
There’s no confirmation of just how many more seasons will be added to Netflix next month – but it’s definitely plural, so we’ll have access to at least seasons three and four, if not more.
Season eight recently aired in America (and via Hulu), but was cut short due to the pandemic. There’s no word as of yet if (and when) there will be a ninth season due to current travel restrictions.
There’s also Below Deck Mediterranean if you find yourself getting well and truly sucked into the yachtie life. Enjoy!
