There’s few things we’re more excited to do next week when lockdown restrictions loosen further than get our mates together for a big ol’ feast in an actual indoor restaurant. So it’s bloody fab timing from Nando’s who have just announced a brand spanking new summer menu.
Available from today, the menu includes a few subtle additions to our favourite peri-peri chicken dishes. First up, there’s a new marinade on the infamous PERI-ometer. The hottest spice on the scale, XXHot, has been replaced with something a little more mild – say hello to Garlic BBQ, which will sit between Plain and Lemon & Herb, making it one of the less spicy flavours available.
Aside from a new spice level, there’s also two new summer salads. There’s Rainbow Bowl which is plant-based and includes spiced grains, rainbow slaw, long-stem broccoli, pickled golden carrot with houmous and a sprinkle of seeds, and the Quinoa & Feta salad which is served with semi-dried tomatoes, pitta croutons and is tossed in a lemon & wild garlic dressing. You can add chicken, or the new vegan PERI-Plant strips.
Moving on to sides: there’s two new options in case you’re not fancying your standard PERI-salted chips. There’s a Rainbow Slaw and a Spiced Grains & Butternut Squash.

But, in the biggest news of all, there’s been a mash up of what actually goes into our beloved pittas and burgers (there’s no changes to the wraps, just FYI).
Pittas will now come served with Lemon & Herb mayo as well as crunch slaw and burgers will now come served with Lemon & Herb mayo, lettuce, tomato and PERi-ketchup.
There’s also a return to the menu for the Sunset Burger, which includes wwo chicken thighs, melting cheddar cheese, smoky red pepper chutney, lettuce and Lemon & Herb mayo in a roll.
And that, aside from a handful of new wine additions to the menu, is everything. Apologies in advance if you’re now craving chicken…
