Period underwear – that is pants, hipsters, knickers and briefs that hold menstrual blood and are used in place of sanitary towels and tampons – have been gaining more and more popularity over the past few years, and now Primark have made them even more accessible with the launch of their very own range.
Primark’s period pants come in a variety of different options and styles to suit your flow and personal comfort. First up, there’s different absorbencies – a light to medium pair will hold about 18ml (or three tampons worth of blood), whilst a medium to heavy pair will hold around 24ml (or four tampons worth).
You can also choose between different shapes and colours, with high waisted midis, hipsters and mini briefs all on offer. Single pairs will set you back £6, whilst a multi-pack containing three pairs retails at £16.

Primark have also created handy infographics on how the environmentally-friendly pants work, and how to best look after them. They’re best rinsed after wear in cold water before putting on a cold wash without fabric conditioner, just FYI.
The pants are available in store now (although I didn’t spot them in my local branch last week, so might be worth asking a member of staff if you can’t spot them because Primark’s lingerie department is notoriously overwhelming.
Other places you can buy period underwear from include Sainsbury’s (they stock a Love Luna range with prices from £10) and of course the OGs – Modbodi, who have a huge selection of prints and styles.
