First there was the news that period drama Bridgerton had been renewed for a second season, and then Netflix dropped the glorious news that they’d also renewed it for seasons three and four, and now? Well now the TV streaming service have announced that there is a Bridgerton spin-off in the making. Oo-er.
And, the new series will focus on the life of Queen Charlotte, who is played by Golda Rosheuvel.
Netflix announced the news via their Twitter and with an Instagram post that said: “All Hail The Queen! Thrilled to announce we’re expanding the Bridgerton universe with a limited series that will tell Queen Charlotte’s origin story – the series will also feature young Violet Bridgerton and young Lady Danbury.”
There’s no news yet how many episodes will feature in the spin-off or when it will be available to watch on Netflix, but we’ll report back when we know more.
Season two of Bridgerton is currently in production, and all we know so far is that it won’t include Regé-Jean Page (sob), and instead will focus more on the love life of Anthony Bridgerton, who is played by Jonathan Bailey.
The 18th century drama is Netflix’s most-viewed show ever, so fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long for the next series…
