It feels like it’s been a long ol’ slog since medical drama New Amsterdam last aired on our TV screens, and now fans can comfortably get excited because it’s been confirmed that the third season will begin airing in the UK from next month.
But – and here’s the real curveball – it will no longer be exclusive to Amazon’s Prime Video. Instead, the new season will debut over on Sky Witness and join the likes of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19.
The third season of the show which is an adaption of the book ‘Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital’ by Eric Manheimer, began showing in the States in March of this year. It continues sharing the story of Dr Max Goodwin who is medical director of one of the United States’ oldest public hospitals.
The end of season two was cut short due to the pandemic as the final episode of the series was, completely coincidentally, named ‘pandemic’ and the storyline ran too close to the real-life covid-19 scenes playing out around the world.
There’s no confirmed exact date from Sky Witness as to when the first episode of New Amsterdam will be on our screens, but we know it will be July 2021. Watch this space, we’ll keep you updated.
Oh and P.S. seasons four and five have already been confirmed. Looks like there’s going to be a good couple of years of New Amsterdam viewing yet…
