If there was a second-hand shopping curveball we didn’t see coming, it’s that Asda have announced they will now be selling pre-loved clothing in 50 of their stores. Hello! And better than that, the clothes won’t just be from their George own-label, but will be from a variety of brands.
Their new vintage selection is in collaboration with Preloved Vintage Wholesale and will hopefully give shoppers more clothes to browse in-store, whilst also stopping the product from ending up in landfill.
A spokesperson said: “We know that sustainable fashion is something that’s really important to our customers and colleagues. They’re passionate about us encouraging everyone in the UK to think about the issues of waste and how we can make fashion and textiles more circular, so that we really can reduce the number of garments that go into landfill.”
“This is an exciting partnership for George, it’s unique in that not only can our customers pick out some vintage and often designer garments at an affordable price, but they’re also helping to support reduce waste by giving these items a second lease of life which is something we are proud to be apart of.”
To make it easier to shop, Asda have already provided a full list of the stores that will be stocking the pre-loved pieces – you can check if your local one is here.
Asda have also launched a ‘Take Back’ scheme, where customers can bring their old and unwanted clothes into store in exchange for a 10% off voucher to be spent on George.com.
Excellent work Asda, excellent work…
