Mare Of Eattown had us absolutely gripped when it aired on Sky Witness earlier this year, and now Kate Winslet – who stars as the lead in the U.S. crime drama – has spoken out about the likelihood of a follow-up season.
She told entertainment website Deadline: “I absolutely believe there’s more chapters to her story” and that she would “love” the chance to play detective Mare again.
“Just because the story has touched people that doesn’t necessarily mean creatively we can do it again. But it doesn’t mean closing doors; we’re opening doors, exploring what’s behind the doors.”
I mean, it sounds a lot like a riddle to us – but still, the fact that a second season hasn’t been ruled out is exciting stuff.
And it’s not just Kate either, HBO (who produce the show) have said it’s a possibility too. Channel boss Casey Bloys said: “If Brad (who is the show’s writer) felt like he had a story to tell that felt like it would be at the same level, I think everybody would be open to it.”
“Right now, he doesn’t have that story. Who knows? We’ll have to wait to see if they come up with something they’re dying to tell” he added.
Season one follows the story of Pennsylvania detective Mare who is grappling with her own demons whilst working on the unsolved case of a local missing woman. You can watch it on Sky Go and Now TV.
