As we slowly tiptoe into autumn, there’s one thing missing from our TV screens, and that, dear friends, is The Great British Bake Off. Staying in and getting cosy on the sofa just isn’t the same without our beloved GBBO, but there’s good news because Channel 4 have just dropped a mini trailer for the 12th season and it’s coming very soon.
The short video was shared on the official GBBO social media channels and showed aerial views of the infamous white baking tent alongside the show’s theme tune. The caption simply said: “Loaf is in the air… The Great British Bake Off. Coming soon.”
Previous seasons of the show – both those that have aired on BBC One and Channel 4 – have arrived in August, but last year’s series, which was the first since the pandemic arrived, aired in late September.
Back in May of this year, during an interview on Lorraine, Matt Lucas confirmed filming was about to begin. He said: “We’re starting very soon. Like last year we’re going into a bubble. All self-isolating and getting tested and then we’re going into COVID-free bubble, so we can all taste each other’s bakes and there can be handshakes and all sorts. I’ve seen the video clips of all the new bakers and there’s some brilliant ones in there.”
We do know that alongside Matt Lucas, Paul Hollywood, Pru Leith and Noel Fielding will all be returning to the tent.
We’ll keep you updated as soon as we get more info…
