It’s been nearly a whole entire year since we reported that McDonald’s were launching a plant-based burger (they’d been trialing one in Canada), but we can finally reveal that the McPlant will be arriving on British shores this September. Woohoo!
The new burger will include a burger from US brand Beyond Meat, a vegan cheese made with pea protein along with a brand new vegan sauce, a vegan sesame bun, mustard, ketchup, pickles, onion, lettuce and sliced tomato. Sounds delicious.
It will initially be released in 10 McDonald’s restaurants in Coventry on 29th September, and then will arrive in a further 250 branches as of 13th October, with the plan on having it in all UK locations by 2022.
The McPlant has also had a the seal of approval from the vegetarian society, and all parts of it will be cooked separately from non-vegan products.
Other vegan items you can currently order from the Maccies UK menu include the Veggie Dippers, The Spicy Veggie One wrap and of course, their infamous fries.
