If you’re 99% cheese by the end of the festive season then firstly, you are our people, and secondly, you’re going to love Aldi’s latest launch. The supermarket has just unveiled a new Christmas cheese range, and it’s about as far from your traditional Wensleydale & cranberry as you can get.
Speaking of Wensleydale, sure to be the most divisive flavour in Aldi’s line cheese line up is the Espresso Martini Wensleydale. Combining crumbly cheese with coffee liqueur, this, erm, interesting pairing was created after the Espresso Martini was named the nation’s favourite cocktail in a recent survey. While we’ll stick to getting our caffeine fix in latte form, we are very into the sound of the other flavours in the range. Continuing the boozy theme is Caramelised Onion & Rioja Mature Cheddar – cheese and wine, what’s not to love? – Raspberry & Pink Gin Yorkshire Wensleydale and a Jamaican-inspired Spiced Honey & Rum Yorkshire Wensleydale. If booze-infused cheese doesn’t float your boat, how about Rosemary & Truffle Flavour Mature Cheddar or the Baking Camembert with Sprout Pesto, which sounds like it’s just crying out for some crusty bread to be dipped in. Stock up on the crackers and chutney, because the cheese board ante just got well and truly upped.
Aldi’s Specially Selected cheeses will be available in stores from 26th November with prices ranging from £1.99-£2.99.
