The pandemic has impacted our way of life in may ways: we now have at least one face mask stuffed into our coat pocket at all times, we’re very very good at Zoom meetings (and boozy Zoom quizzes), and we’ve all been flocking to buy homes by the seaside.
And, Rightmove has just released info about which seaside towns and areas are the most sought after by potential homebuyers, according to the user data and search terms on their website.
At the top of the list? Bournemouth, closely followed by its not-too-far-away neighbour, Southampton.

Rightmove also analysed which seaside spots had seen the biggest increase in searches throughout 2021. That is, the towns that could be considered up and coming based on their growth in interest and popularity.
At the top of that list? Morecambe in Lancaster which saw a 32% increase in potential homebuyers searching for properties in the area.

The government revealed in August 2021 that house prices had increased 10.6% on the previous year, with the average house price in the UK now at £264,244. The north east saw the biggest year-on-year growth, up 13.3% on August 2020, closely followed by the north west at 12.4%. The lowest yearly growth was London which was up just 5%.
