Before we all hunker down for the big ol’ upcoming festive period, we thought we’d let you know exactly which mince pies had been voted the very best for 2021, so that you can stock up accordingly. Which? have released the results of their annual taste test (sounds like a terrible job, how do we apply?) and the winner may shock you…
There were so many outrageously good supermarket mince pies this year that Which? declared the top spot a split between three equal winners, and all of them offer a pack of their award-winning pies for under £2.
Which mince pies, you ask? WELL. First off, there’s Iceland’s £1.89 Luxury All Butter Mince Pies which hit the top spot for the second year running, they’re that good. They’re infused with yuzu juice and cider and dusted with sugar.
Also in first place was Co-op’s Irresistible All Butter Luxury Mince Pies (£2 for a pack of six) which had a port-flavoured mincemeat and v impressive snowflake design on top.
And finally, the third supermarket mince pit to tie at the top was Tesco’s Finest All Butter Pastry Mince Pies which scored 75%, the same as the other two winning pies. The taste test was based on flavour, appearance, texture and aroma.
Good Housekeeping also do an annual mince pie taste testing and crowned their 2021 winner Morrison’s Best Deep Filled All Butter Mince Pies. So the big question is, which ones are you going to bulk buy for the big day?
