And just like that, a new fashion season is upon us. Whilst it may only be January (and freakin’ cold – anyone else wearing more than one pair of socks?) the digital high street is starting to show off to their spring 2022 clothing collections. Sandals and swishy dresses may be a while off, but there are some key trends that are making themselves known.
The good news? Lots of them are trends that have been peeking out for a good few months or even years, so there’s a good chance you’ve already got some items lurking at the back of your wardrobe. It’s also worth a hunt on Depop/Vinted/eBay to see if you can find them secondhand, too. They’re all super easy to wear, regardless of your personal style, taste and shape and most can be worn now whilst the weather is still lending itself nicely to lots of layers.
Here are the fashion trends we’re eyeing up for spring 2022…

The Fleece
Taking up plenty of space on shop floors last autumn was every middle aged couple’s fave fashion item: the fleece. Perfect for dog-walking, hikes and err… more walking. But the fleece has had a serious 2021/2022 upgrade and now comes in incredibly cool prints and colour combinations (hello leopard print and blush pink) which makes it no longer just a practical item but a pretty one too. Team with leggings and chunky trainers on the school run for ultimate comfort.

House Shoes
The shoe of the moment? Fluffy faux-fur lined puppies that straddle the thin line between outdoor and shoes. Low boot UGGs are having an absolute moment, so if you’ve still got yours stashed somewhere from a decade ago, now’s the time to revive them. Other options include suede mules, faux fur Birkenstocks and brilliant supermarket dupes of the same styles. Best worn with chunky socks and jeans.

Statement Collars
Oversized peter pan style collars ambushed the high street last spring and they’re not going anywhere. Whether you want a dress, a blouse or a collar that’s standalone and can be worn over jumpers, there’s plenty of choice for 2022. We love a statement collar worn under dungarees for an easy casual look that still looks dressy and feels good at the same time.

Quilted Jackets & Gilets
Another trend which well and truly kickstarted last year but is set to stick around for 2022 is the quilted jacket. Not quite as thick, comforting or duvet-like as the puffer coat, the quilted jacket is more like something you’d wear to garden or ride a horse. You’ll find them most notably in olive green and khaki shades – we loved them thrown over jeans and white shirts for simple every day styling.

Mini Skirts
Yes, they’re back. For children of the 00s and 90s, it may feel a little too soon – the styles with the little front splits currently flooding the high street are giving us serious school disco vibes. This one’s a go hard or go home kinda trend; think sky-high hemlines, bold prints and punchy colours.
