It goes without saying that there has never been a more expensive time to buy a home. House prices are surging as fewer properties are coming on the market making those that are on there, well… really freaking expensive. A survey from Nationwide Building Society found that first-time buyers would need to spend around six times their annual pay check to buy a property in 45% of areas in the UK. Mad, mad, mad.
Their research also revealed which locations in each part of the UK were most expensive for home buyers and which areas were most affordable – interesting if there’s certain places you like the idea of and want more of an insight as to just how pricey they are.
The results aren’t entirely shocking, with the London borough of Kensington and Chelsea coming out as the most expensive place for first-time buyers within the whole of the UK, whilst East Ayshire in Scotland is the cheapest, making it the best place to bag a property bargain.
