This week we’re talking to Bubbles* who is 30 and currently in a civil partnership with a “lovely man”. Before they embarked on their relationship, Bubbles* experimented with threesomes.
This is Bubbles’ story…
“I was 28, single and had always known I had an interest in girls so I decided the time was right to finally explore it – I had started getting the desire to experiment when I was 26/27. My Tinder was set to both males and females and I spotted a gorgeous man who, with his girlfriend, was looking for a third person to join them. He was 47 and she was 27, so a big age gap. I swiped and we matched. We exchanged messages and they sent videos and pictures. We had a three-way phone call to see if we all got along and then we arranged to meet. I travelled to the city to see them and we had food and drinks. They were outrageously flirty and didn’t seem bothered that people were watching them touch my legs under the table.
We then went for a walk and I kissed them both. They asked if I wanted to go back to a hotel with them and I did. They had clearly anticipated this as they had a bag full of toys ready, including a strap on and I remember thinking ‘what on Earth?!’. We discussed safe sex which was really refreshing. The sex was a mix of one-on-one and sharing and I enjoyed it – it was my first time with a girl so pretty full on. I felt sick after which sounds awful but there was a lot to process.
I ended up seeing them once more and it was a bit more intense. I then realised that it had run its course and things were perhaps not aligned as I once thought. I also tried meeting up and having a threesome with another couple which was unpleasant and very different. They didn’t want to kiss, it was all about seeing how far they could take each other and me. I should have said no or stop but I wasn’t comfortable enough to. This experience made me realise that it wasn’t really what I was looking for.
For me it was definitely a single girl thing. I realised I felt sick every time which is ultimately why I stopped as I realised although at the time it filled a gap it wasn’t the right gap or perhaps wasn’t the right thing to fill the gap.
My current partner has no interest in sharing. Exploring a three-way relationship can be a tricky thing to navigate and requires a lot of open and honest communication. My partner knows that I have tried threesomes in the past but wouldn’t be keen to have the same experiences which I respect as I feel in many ways I have outgrown that desire too.
These days I am much happier with the set-up I have. We schedule sex once a week but try to do it more, but sometimes life gets in the way.”
