Back in 2018 Netflix released a crime documentary called The Staircase, and it made for gripping viewing. It followed the case of Michael Peterson who was accused of killing his wife Kathleen at their home in North Carolina after she died from a head injury. But as the details unraveled it became harder to work out what was truth and what was fiction, and whether or not he was guilty. Whilst devastatingly sad, the mystery surrounding Kathleen’s death ultimately stayed with you long after you’d finished watching.
And this spring, HBO are releasing a crime drama which portrays the real-life events of the case. It’ll star Colin Firth, Sophie Turner and Toni Collette, to name a few – and with names that big starring in it, you know it’s going to be an absolute must-watch.
The first pictures of the show have just landed, and all eight episodes of the The Staircase will air on HBO Max later this spring. Although there’s no current date for when we’ll be able to watch it in the UK.
Previously HBO dramas – like Mare Of Easttown and And Just Like That – have been available on Sky, so we’ve no doubt this will be a similar set-up. We’ll update you once we have more details…
