Whether it’s a rummage in the charity shop, scrolling Depop for a steal or finding something amazing on Facebook Marketplace, secondhand shopping is one of our favourite pastimes. Whenever we visit a new city, hunting out the best vintage shops ranks as high on the priority list as booking the top restaurant on TripAdvisor, and now you can plan a city break according to which destination offers the best vintage shopping.
According to research by Betway – who calculated the number of vintage shops, charity shops, flea markets and car boot sales across 79 European cities and combined them to give a total figure – uber-cool Berlin came out as the top secondhand shopping destination. Among the city’s 296 secondhand shops you’ll find 240 vintage stores and 56 flea markets to browse.
Helsinki took second place, boasting 215 vintage and charity shops as well as 49 flea markets and car boot sales, while London, home to the iconic Camden and Portobello markets, came in third with 262 places to shop.
