If there’s one bandwagon we’ve well and truly enjoyed riding on over the past year, it’s been the period-pants shaped one. And now Primark have raised the bar by launching period bikini bottoms which – as the name suggests – means you can wear them in the pool (or sea) whilst menstruating, instead of relying on a tampon.
The bikini bottoms are made from recycled polyester, come in plain black and are available in two styles – high waist and classic bikini cut, and they both cost £5. Perfect for pairing with a black bikini top if you have one, or clashing with another colour or print.
The bikini bottoms work because they have an absorbent layer built into them that soaks up the blood flow, a bit like a a sanitary towel. You simply wear them, rinse them in cold water and then stick them in the washing machine ready to go again.
They’re part of a new swim range from Primark which not only include menstruation products, but also items which are modest, for those who want to completely cover up – whether that’s for religious, cultural or personal reasons – as well as swim options for those recovering from surgery.
